Lest We Forget
What has been forgotten and lost?
All that we call wonder is but
For a fast and fleeting moment
We remember that we forgot
Of some time when not yet frost
Had pierced the world unto it’s root
Every tale is but its remnant
We remembered when we forgot.
Will we forget what was the cost
Of plucking that thrice acursed fruit,
The stained steel still more grows rust
We remember that we forgot,
Lest we lose ever what we lost
And lose ourselves in this world’s glut
Becoming worst than lowly dust,
We remember lest we forget…
This was an old experiment dug out of my notebook last morning. Rather pleased with how it turned out, but probably best for short form, it gets monotonous rapidly..
