Nowak's Song
For a merry old English lad
Nine times he cried he couldn’t breathe, The weight of the wheels crushed down on him As they grind down on every man all, While the sea grows high and the sky grows dim. Four times he suffered mortal stabs, While fleeing wounded, twice to the legs, The fence he clambered failed him And now at last for his life he begs. Three officers came to the scene, (His blood trails down the English street, His voice stolen by the killer's hands) They friendlylike, his killer greet. And while he pleads that he's been knifed, They with cold chains his limbs enwreath, Say laughing, "I don’t think you have mate!" His last words: "Please, brother, I can't breathe." How many more English lads will die While sky grows dim and sea grows high! The fatal weapon long since hid, (The killer's mother nicked it on the sly) He choked on his own innocent blood, His killer filming it right by. How many more English lads will die While sky grows dim and sea grows high! While Henry lay in English ground, Cold English sod cushioned his head And in the warm kitchen nearby, They gave his killer salt and bread. How many more English lads will die While sky grows dim and sea grows high! He died before they read him his rights In cuffs while his killer stood by him free! He died when he could've yet been saved Had the police any decency! How many more English lads will die While sky grows dim and sea grows high! Before his body lay in the grave, Nowak's murderers began telling fibs: "They couldn't save him as couldn't see The blood on his face, hands, arms, and ribs." How many more English lads will die While sky grows dim and sea grows high! They raved about racism and said: "That Digwa only defended his life." While Digwa tells his brother in jab He was the one who started the strife. How many more English lads will die While sky grows dim and sea grows high! Judge Mousley to the jury implored To give manslaughter for murder's crime, But they, at least, that rat abhorred, The judge gave Digwa twenty years time. How many more English lads yet die While sky grows dim and sea grows high! Twenty-one years time isn't nearly enough, Life for life and an eye for eye, Death for death, get them out and gone, Enough of murder and rape and lie. How many more English lads yet die While sky grows dim and sea grows high! When mourners gave vigil at his gravesite, Coppers and hecklers mocked them both, His family was attacked in court By Digwa's kin, breaking holy oath. How many more English lads yet die While sky grows dim and sea grows high! Nowak's grim fate is all our own, His wounds are ours, his life, our lives, Every young man like him is shorn Of house, peace, livelihood, and wives. How many more English lads yet die While sky grows dim and sea grows high! One time he died and forever lives free. What do you Britons have to lose? You swore that you would never be slaves Will this at last ignite your fuse? No more let your own good lads die Blacken the sky, flood the sea high!
Prayer for the British Isles
Holy Mary, Our Lady of Walsingham, guide Henry Nowak into thy Son’s hands.
St. George, as you slew the dragon despoiling maidens, help us slay the new dragon.
St. Alfred, as you drove invaders back to the sea, help us drive them back to the desert.
St. Edmund, as you fought and fell for England, help us rise and fight for England.
St. Andrew, as you endured suffering, for Christ’s sake help us endure.
St. David, as you warn men of their death, wake Britain from her deathbed.
St. Patrick, as you drove serpents from Ireland, help us rid Britain of reptiles.
St. Alban, first of Britian’s martyrs, help us endure martyrdom for God and her sake.
St. Aristobulus, first bishop of Britain, pray to the Lord that she may become holy.
All saints of England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales, intercede for us before the Lord.
Holy Father, cleanse us. Holy Son, heal us. Holy Ghost, strengthen us.
Restore Britain and her peoples that she may restore herself for thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake. Guide us, help us, teach us, keep us holy and upright in thy eyes.
We beg these things in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
